The Viceroy aka Tom Godwin is one of the most exciting new talents in trance. Emerging as an international DJ whose style of progressive and uplifting trance has brought a new twist to the euphoric dance floors of the UK and Europe.
Tom is promoter and resident of Vaccine at Turnmills in London; described by Judge Jules as a night of “brand new trance talent administered and lovingly tended to”.
Its monthly Thursday night at Turnmills sees UK debuts and exclusives from the best Dutch, Danish and UK trance talent.
Here he is seen spinning alongside DJs such as Simon Patterson aka Dogzilla, Ernesto vs Bastian, Paul Masterson aka Yomanda, Michael Splint, Corderoy, Goldenscan, Misja Helsloot, Si Paul aka Lost Witness, Kuffdam, Phynn and many more.
A regular across the UK including London, Birmingham and Bristol, his tour of Russia and the Ukraine in November 2004 was a resounding success, selling out venues and spreading trance to completely unchartered areas.
In December 2005 at the age of 19, The Viceroy will make his debut at the world famous The Gallery @ Turnmills, (MixMag London club of the year 2004).
With the very best residents including Tall Paul, John Askew and Gavyn Mytchel as well as the biggest headliners including among others Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Mauro Picotto, Paul Van Dyk in 2005 alone. This debut at Tom’s favourite night marks the end of an incredibly successful 2005 and the beginning of a very exciting 2006.
In April 2005 The Viceroy played at the ‘Escape Into the Park’ Launch Party at the Donny Road Show and in November 2005 was booked alongside Adam Sheridan to play at Bristol’s number one trance event Flatspin.
He is also emerging as a regular at various secret trance nights across the capital, including the infamous Planet Angel parties where he is returning regularly to spin alongside some of the best DJ’s in London.
His choice of tunes, support of new unsigned talent and technical excellence behind the decks was rewarded by winning the much coveted Primalsounds DJ competition in August 2004 with previous winners including the A List, chart topping DJ, Darren Tate.
His new radio show, broadcast monthly on Risefm has seen The Viceroy welcome guest mixes from some of the best DJs around, including Judge Jules, Ferry Corsten, Gabriel and Dresden, Above and Beyond, Gavyn Mytchel, Jon O Bir, Max Graham, Guy Ornadel, Simon Patterson, Kuffdam, John Askew, DJ Choose and many more.
In June 2005 leading dance magazine I – DJ recommended The Viceroy pres Sunday Comedown saying “ You’d be wise to check in with The Viceroy…Viceroy has got guest mixes from all the greats – Judge Jules, Ferry Corsten, Max Graham so tune in”
The Viceroy is also signed to Faldo Promotions, one of the most forward thinking student promotions teams in the UK, regularly playing their events from Ibiza - style beach parties to being a resident at the 900 capacity E1 club in East London and headlining other events such as Pressure Cooker @ Turnmills.
