Saturday 28th August 2004 Tower Bell, out of Bristol Harbour
After having it large on the Mayday Mayday! boat
party we couldn't resist the chance to end the summer as we had begun it... floating!
After some drunken conversations at random house parties, we persuaded local geezer partyboy Paul Conroy
of Vibe 101 fame to join us for some madness. He agreed. The scene was set. Enter master
craftsman Ian Cole to provide sterling support. We were in for a messy one!
"The fucking speakers ain't working Tizz!"
"Switch them on you tit"
"They are on..."
"Ah..."
As Deepgroove's Grayson Shipley said to us as he boarded there is nothing worse than having a boat full
of nutters, a boat waiting to go and no sound system!
As our plot from 'Airplane' unfolded before us a glimer of hope raised itself in a last minute offer of
a sound system. We gladly accepted, having to jump ship mid cruise, flag a taxi down, bribe the taxi driver
not to fuck off, collect speakers, chase boat, catch boat, setup up speakers... you get the picture.
As the sound system boomed into turbo, so did the party... it was mental from that moment till dry land. Conroy
& Cole laid down a blistering soundtrack of funky house as a fitting end to summer.
The afterparty at Timbuk2 was rather sketchy but great fun for all participants.
Si Tizzard took to the decks to propell us on the ultimate Flatspin journey though emotion.
