Timbuk2, Bristol
For us this was the real Flatspin sound. Being the very music that motivates us, it was only a
matter of time before the night dedicated to transport you to cloud 9 arrived.
The promotion for October was in motion as the funky floater ended and
with some great press from the likes of Venue,
BBC,
Out of Hand, Vibe 101
and Pete Tong's Essential Selection and The Judge on Radio 1.
Standing outside clubs till 4 or 6am every weekend handing out flyers can be great fun as you get to know
other promoters joining in talking shite to fellow nutters whilst swarming over bemused clubbers! How
effective it is however is hard to say.
The transformation of Timbuk2, the new underground club in town,
took all day with with the installtation of plush decor, lighting effects and our piece de' resitance,
and instant hit, the old skool games room - a 1st for the club. It was worth everyones efforts as the
place looked superb. Cheers guys.
As we left the runway, Si Tizzard plotted our course with deep house
and trance. The club was empty until 10:00pm, but soon after Si Dollar's arrival
into the cockpit the place got into full swing. Si spun a fittingly fantastic set of emotion-fulled uplifting
trance firmly setting the tone for the rest of the night.
Enter Ray Phillips, pre-bar resident at the legendry superclub Passion.
Ray took us to 35,000 ft and everyone in the building not already on the dance floor joined us waving arms at his
blend of driving, euphoric trance.
Meanwile next door, Arch Two was messily bouncing away, driven by classic happy hardcore from the 'Co-ordinator'. Our
good friends Matt of Revolution, Nick and 'The croydon massive'
laid some down Bristol fashion.
Back on the bridge and at the stroke of midnight, with his harder-edged trance supersound Marc Vedo, (Mr Koolwaters)
sent us all into a flatspin leaving us in a sweaty but happy mess at 2:00am begging for more.
All in all a top night. Could have been busier - but everyone that came had a wicked time and left the dance floor with a smile on their face - the most important thing.
